Notes from Val's Current Foster:

Meet Val, a beautiful young hound girl with a heart as lovely as her face. Her recent life hasn’t been the best —she was found as a stray with some skin issues—but with a little care, medicated baths, and love, she is all healed up and ready for a fresh start.

Since moving into her foster home, Val has shown everyone what a smart, sweet, affectionate, and adaptable companion she can be. She settled right in with a four-dog pack and handled the whole transition like a pro. She is an easygoing girl who likes being part of the family and has quickly learned the rhythm of the household.

Val’s absolute favorite thing? Walks! If you enjoy getting outside and exploring, she might be the perfect match. She would love a family committed to at least one or two walks a day. She is working hard on her leash manners, learning to walk nicely on a loose leash and getting geared up with her harness and collar. PUPDATE: Val is exhibiting more patience and cooperation in gearing up and mostly walking with ease throughout the neighborhood.

Inside the home, Val is a dream guest. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and has lovely manners. She doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t, doesn’t counter surf, and isn’t one to beg at the table. She is respectful with toys and food, and she takes treats ever so gently.

PUPDATE: Although Val has slept contentedly through the night in her crate, she has since decided to join the “doggie dormitory” in her foster home. She now sleeps happily through the night in a dog bed on the floor with her dog siblings in the same room with her humans. She also enjoys napping in the “doggie dormitory” throughout the day.

Val adores people and is always excited to make new friends. Sometimes her enthusiasm gets the better of her, and she may jump up to say hello, but she is already learning that “four on the floor” is the way to go. PUPDATE: Val is showing impressive improvement when meeting new people in the neighborhood, in the home and at adoption events. Yay!

Val may be happy as an only dog but would probably prefer another canine companion, especially one who enjoys calmer play and running around. If you’re looking for a smart, sweet, loving, active companion who’s ready to leave her past behind and start her best life, Val may be the perfect girl for you.
