ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Fern came to Homeward Trails from a rural shelter as a very pregnanat young dog. She gave birth to adorable puppies soon after she came to us. Fern has been the best momma and a wonderfully sweet companion to her foster humans. The family who adopts her will be so lucky to get a loyal and sweet natured young dog.
Fern is incredibly easy to fall in love with as she has a gentle, sweet composure. She is a tad skittish around new people and loud sudden noises but warms up quickly. She loves a good rub down especially around her ears and will paw her person to continue when they stop. She also loves playing with toys. As her mama duties are ending, she is starting to show her playful side. She is, after all, barely out of puppyhood herself.
With her needing less time to attend to her puppies, Fern is now starting to learn commands. She has almost mastered "sit". Next up is learning to keep all four paws on the ground; Fern's an affectionate girl who is learning that jumping on her humans is a no-no.
Fern sleeps in her dog bed near her foster's bed every night and wakes her foster up with her smile in the morning to be let out. She LOVES TO BE OUTSIDE! Fern will be happiest in a home with a fenced yard.
Fern's maternal duties are almost at an end so she will be looking to move to her forever home very soon.
