ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:

Nadia arrived at Homeward Trails from Puerto Rico. Upon her arrival, she spent the initial 12 hours concealed beneath the couch, unwilling to walk, and frightened of everything around her.

Although Nadia does not know how to play with toys, she has demonstrated an impressive ability to solve puzzle toys, retrieving the hidden treats within minutes. We are convinced that she possesses a high level of intelligence. She is gradually learning about toys by observing her animal companions. Nadia enjoys taking the toys and adorning her crate with them, moving them around and resting beside them.

Nadia takes pleasure in walking through quiet neighborhoods. She is becoming accustomed to wearing a harness, as she was previously a stray wandering the streets of Puerto Rico. Loud buses, garbage trucks, skateboards, and the bouncing sound of basketballs are not to her liking. Over time, we hope she will acclimate to these noises and understand that they pose no threat to her. Nadia's first foster home was located in the bustling heart of DC, which proved challenging for her. She greatly prefers the serene and tranquil suburban environment.

Nadia delights in soaking up the sun outdoors and enjoys running and playing chase with other dogs. She appreciates treats and bully sticks, often hiding them in her crate. She greets other dogs and people during walks and loves to explore new areas. Indoors, she keeps herself entertained by redecorating her crate with toys and concealing her bones in secret spots—though she won't disclose where. She joyfully wags her tail whenever she sees her humans and will become your lifelong best friend if you offer her a belly rub.
